Sincere Malik Melvin was born on November 9, 2000, in Salisbury, Maryland. From a young age, he was known for his vibrant spirit and infectious laughter. Whether he was riding his Power Wheel, playing basketball, or spending time with friends and family, Sincere brought joy to those around him. His playful energy and warm heart made him truly unforgettable.
At the age of 8, Sincere began living primarily with his mother, following his father’s move to Florida. Around the age of 12, he began showing signs of depression—a quiet struggle he carried with him through his teenage years.
Despite the challenges he faced internally, Sincere was an exceptional student. He attended schools in both Wicomico County and Howard County, eventually graduating from Mount Hebron High School in Ellicott City, Maryland. On May 29, 2018, he graduated as an Honors Student, a testament to his dedication and brilliance.
His academic success didn’t stop there. Sincere was accepted to the University of Maryland, Baltimore County, where he had just begun his journey as a college student. He chose to major in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, with a minor in Mathematics. His passion for learning, especially science and reading, was clear to all who knew him.
Sincere was a Meyerhoff Scholar and the recipient of the Distinguished Scholar Award, recognitions that spoke to his incredible potential and drive. He was on the path to a bright future—one full of promise, discovery, and impact.
Tragically, on July 11, 2018, Sincere attempted to end his life. He passed away the next day, on July 12, 2018, at Johns Hopkins Children’s Center.
Though his life was cut short, Sincere’s legacy continues through the Sincere2000 Foundation, a not-for-profit organization created in his memory. The foundation is committed to supporting mental health awareness and helping others who are facing similar struggles.
Sincere’s life was full of love, brilliance, and potential. He is deeply missed, and forever remembered with honor, love, and compassion.
