I truly believe that reminding others that “It’s okay not to be okay”, may lower the anxiety that we experience Yashica has worked for Palm Beach County Sheriff Office as a Corrections Support Personnel for over 12 years. During her time at the PBSO, she and her co-workers started a campaign called “Pay it Forward”. This campaign focuses on inmate families that visit the visitation center, where she works, that may have a financial need during Thanksgiving and Christmas. The campaign started over 5 years ago, it gives $50 - $100 gift cards from either Publix or Wal-Mart to be used to help during those times. The looks, tears, and hugs that we receive from unexpected visitors are beyond words. It changes how the public views our organization and those in uniforms, one person at a time. We have noticed the impact of knowing that others' care has had on the mental state of individuals. Registered Marriage and Family Therapist. 561-644-9194
